The Ugo and Olga Levi Foundation for Music Studies onlus was established in 1962 by a deed of donation from Ugo Levi in honor of the testamentary will of his wife Olga Brunner and in memory of their common passion for music studies.
The Statute defines the following aims
- the use of Palazzo Giustinian Lolin in Venice as a venue for high-level musical studies and events;
- the presence of a library […] for historical studies on music of all countries, all times, all forms and trends;
- the organization of practice sessions, concerts, conferences, debates and, in general, private or public musical events in the highest expressions, with focus on interpretation and composition.
The Levi Foundation is active in musicological and ethnomusicological research in the Veneto, national and European spheres, including the cataloging and study of music collections.
More than fifty years of experience has suggested that research groups be set up on a specific theme and that seminars and conferences be held to compare and monitor the results of each other's work. Along with these activities, a flourishing publishing strand and an intensive concert program have developed over the years. The Foundation, always in synergy with the world of education, music academies and universities, has become a point of reference for the numerous organizations committed to disseminating culture in the community.

Palazzo giustinian lolin
the foundation
Il Palazzo Giustinian Lolin, as we see it today, dates back to the third decade of the seventeenth century, when the owner Giovanni Lolin decided to have it renovated with the intention of bequeathing it to his nephew Giovanni Giustinian on the condition that the name of Lolin was maintained alongside that of the Giustinians. It is considered one of the first independent works of Baldassarre Longhena (1598-1682).
