presentation of the volume Voices and vocality in Western culture
with Valentina Confuorto e Cristina Miatello
(Armando Editore, 2024)
They will present the volume Claudia Caffagni e Paul Furlan, in the presence of the curators.
A musical performance by students of the Department of Ancient Music of the Venice Conservatory, coordinated by Prof. Luca Dordolo, will accompany the presentation with music.
A book on the history of singing and vocality (ancient, lyrical and contemporary, profane and sacred, but also jazz, pop, traditional, rock and musical).
The authors Confuorto, a musicologist, and Miatello, a singer, both trained at the Conservatory of Padua, have therefore involved twenty-four experts to write about singing: not only as a technical or virtuosic phenomenon, but also as an artistic expression in close relation to history, society, customs and languages.
The book (also available in e-book format) is aimed primarily at conservatory and university students, but also at anyone interested in music and fascinated by the voice. The texts are accompanied by photographs, paintings, musical examples and tables for further information, for a pleasant and complete reading.
The conference will be in italian
